The Nitmiluk Gorge and 17 Mile Valley Scenic

- Duration: 40 Minutes (approx.)
- Location: Nitmiluk Heli Touring Pad, NT
- Product code: NE04
Embark on one of our longest scenic flights and take in the
full grandeur of Nitmiluk National Park from a perspective few get to see at
all. You’ll fly over the full length of Katherine Gorge before venturing deeper
into the remote wilderness of the 17 Mile Valley, most famously explored on
foot via the Jatbula Trail. On this flight, you will be able to glide over
areas that hikers reach after days of hiking.
Along the way, your
pilot will provide insightful commentary, sharing stories of the park’s
geological formations, Aboriginal heritage, and hidden natural features you
won’t find on the ground.
From above, you’ll catch stunning views of the highlights of
the gorge including the Baruwei Lookout, Jedda’s Rock, Lily Ponds and the
Northern Rockhole. The 17 Mile offers stunning vistas of the Biddlecombe
Cascades, the wide-open escarpments and spring-fed rock pools. This flight is
perfect for those who want to see more of Nitmiluk National Park than just the
gorge, gaining a more complete picture of the rugged landscape, deep valleys
and spectacular waterfalls—all in a single unforgettable journey.
